Back in the saddle

Well now, what should I paint while waiting for these ones to dry....  Maybe a pastel underpainting for  a monochromatic oil. I am thinking of burnt sienna and ultramarine blue, which makes a range of rich greys and darks.

OK, the swallowtail butterfly is dressed in his tux. So I will let this dry for a few days to see what happens when the transparent paints dry. 

The monarch butterflies are now looking a little higher over the ground. I put a whitish glaze over the landscape, which will make the butterflies stand out more when they are bright orange and black in the next layer.
